How do you match a tutor to a student?

We match tutors carefully based on academic need, age, personality and the type of support required. Subject knowledge matters, but so does the ability to build trust, momentum and the right working relationship.

Do you offer in-person, online and hybrid tuition?

Yes. We offer in-person, online and hybrid support depending on the student's needs and location. The format should suit the child and the practical realities of family life, rather than being fixed in one direction.

Can you provide tutors in London?

Yes. We work with families in London and can arrange in-person support where appropriate. We also support London-based families who need online or blended arrangements.

Do you work with families outside the UK?

Yes. We support families internationally, including those based overseas full-time or moving between locations.

Can you help with 7+, 11+, 13+ and common entrance preparation?

Yes. We provide tuition for entrance preparation at different stages, including 7+, 11+, 13+ and common entrance. Support can be focused, long-term or integrated with wider school consultancy.

Do you provide GCSE, A Level and IB tutors?

Yes. We work across the main senior academic pathways, including GCSE, A Level and IB. Tutor selection takes into account subject expertise, exam-board familiarity and the kind of support the student responds to best.

Can tuition support confidence and learning gaps as well as exams?

Yes. Tuition is not only for formal exam preparation. It can also help with confidence, consistency, learning gaps, transitions between schools and the rebuilding of academic momentum.

Are your tutors teachers?

Some are qualified teachers, while others come from strong academic or specialist tutoring backgrounds. The right fit depends on the child, the subject and the nature of the brief.

How are tutors vetted?

Tutors are selected carefully and checked before being introduced. Vetting is an important part of the process, but so is ensuring the tutor is genuinely suited to the student and family.

Can tuition be arranged at short notice?

Often, yes. Availability depends on the brief and location, but we regularly help families who need support quickly, whether for a school deadline, a move or an unexpected academic concern.

How often should tuition take place?

That depends on the student's goals, timetable and capacity. Some benefit from regular weekly sessions, while others need a more concentrated period of support.

Can tutoring run alongside a school placement process?

Yes. Tuition and consultancy often work well together. A school search may reveal the need for academic preparation, while tuition can also help support a smoother admissions process.

Do you offer long-term tuition as well as short-term intensive support?

Yes. Some families need sustained support over time, while others need a shorter intensive period around exams, entrance assessments or a particular transition.

Can you provide tutors during relocation or extended travel?

Yes. We support families who need educational continuity during travel, relocation or other periods of change. This may be through online tuition, in-person support or a more residential arrangement depending on circumstances.

What makes Treberys tuition different?

Treberys takes a more considered and relationship-led approach to tuition. We focus not only on subject coverage, but on the wider context around the child, the family and the educational aim behind the support.

Oxbridge Admissions Consultancy

Applications to Oxford and Cambridge require a more specialised approach than most UK university applications. Strong grades are only one part of the process. Subject choice, academic depth, admissions tests, written work and interviews all need to be considered together.

Treberys Private works with students to develop a coherent Oxbridge strategy built around the chosen course and university. We coordinate the academic and admissions preparation required, bringing in subject specialists where deeper preparation is needed.

Areas of support

Subject & Course Strategy

We help students assess whether Oxford or Cambridge is the right fit and consider the implications of course structure, subject requirements and academic interests before an application is developed.

Oxford or Cambridge Positioning

Where appropriate, we help students understand the differences between the two universities, including course structure, admissions requirements and the academic character of each route.

Admissions Test Preparation

Where a course requires additional testing, we coordinate specialist admissions test preparation aligned with the student's chosen course and university.

Written Work & Academic Preparation

For subjects requiring submitted work or deeper academic engagement, we help students strengthen their subject knowledge and prepare material that reflects genuine academic ability.

Interview Preparation

Oxbridge interviews are academic conversations rather than conventional admissions interviews. We prepare students to think aloud, respond to unfamiliar material and engage confidently with subject-specific questions.

Application Coordination

We coordinate the wider process, ensuring school references, written work, test preparation, timelines and interview preparation are considered together rather than treated as separate pieces of work.

Oxford applications

Oxford admissions vary significantly by subject, with different combinations of admissions tests, submitted work and interviews. We help students understand the specific requirements of their course and prepare accordingly.

Cambridge applications

Cambridge applications may involve additional written information, college-specific requirements and subject-focused interviews. We coordinate preparation around the structure of the chosen course and college where relevant.

Academic depth beyond the application

Strong Oxbridge preparation often involves sustained academic development rather than short-term coaching. Where appropriate, we arrange subject tuition through Treberys Private to deepen understanding ahead of admissions tests and interviews.
